They could probably still introduce GlobalNational without ruffling the proverbial rating feathers too badly. Why would we want to watch a Canadian news program? I'd have no problem with it on at 5am or something - NBC TOday and ABC Good Morning America are shown on 7 & 9 respectively at 4am, but I dont think it would do Ten any favours to air GlobalNational in prime time. They arent really motivated about news. They dont see it as a major thing. Having said that, they already have the highest rating national news program -> "Ten's Late News" seven nights a week.

It doesn't have to be in primetime, I didn't say anything about that. Even for it to air at 1pm would be fine. There would be no point in following the Seven / Nine route and airing in the middle of the night.

Fairfax want to get back into TV, and has been for a while...but how and where would CanWest expand in Australia through Ten? All I've heard it that CanWest would acquire enough to become an out and out owner of Ten once the media ownership laws are changed. Also...I don't see Ten ever showing GlobalNational early in the morning. Ten doesn't care much about early morning programs...it's all Christian stuff...and rather cheap, I'd assume too... I also don't see Ten renaming itself to "Global"...Ten is a well known brand, as it's also used by regional affilates (albeit attached as "Southern Cross Ten"...but most of the time they're identified as "Ten") Just my thoughts...

Of course they wont ever become Global or show Global National. There's no demand for Ten to show an international news program, and it would be stupid to ditch the brand. Ten could perhaps enter radio markets once the laws change... they could also perhaps acquire Southern Cross Ten from SCB if the laws change as expected.

Maybe Ten would buy out Southern Cross...they'd have to sell Channel 9 Adelaide to do it, but I could see them do that...that would give Ten several radio outlets, plus a national radio news network. As for Ten ever showing Global National...even if they did do it, and they aired at in the early morning, there is no guarnetee it would be screened everywhere....regional stations are well known for replacing networked programs with reglious or, more likely, home shopping programs. Seven affilate Prime TV/GWN has an unhealthy obession with both.
