Lisa LaFlamme was also there within 2 days. It wasn't her that was there but there was another CTV News reporter. She was in Toronto anchoring CTV News @ 11, filling in for Lloyd Robertson that week.

Okay, then I'm thinking either Steve Chao or Janis Mackey-Frayer, somebody senior like that.

Did anyone hear CTV News @ 6 today coming back from the first commercial? "You're watching CTV - the exclusive local television network of the 2010 Olympics" Already advertising. I'm sure this will get some people on the forum talking

Yeah, I thought it was cheeky but if it gets people talking, more power to the news department. When it comes down to Olympic coverage, I'd rather be watching a network that gets really excited about it five years beforehand than just "Oh, yeah, we got the coverage... wooo?" I'm sure if Global had won the rights (despite their definite inability to put forth a bid as it has been discussed before in the topic) they would have done the same thing.

That is true Tim, I'm sure Global would do the same thing. I'm sure this will do wonders for CTV News. There will be 22 hours a day of Olympics on CTV with breaks for local and national news. However, we have no idea what the news landscape will be like in 5 years either.

I see CTV National News looking very old and I think it needs a update. But why change when your #1. I don't think it looks all that bad at all, they've updated it appropriately. It may not be WSVN, but consistency is very important to keeping viewers. The so-called "old look" being on the #1 national newscast says something about "old" working.

The 22 hours of Olympic coverage includes CTV & all it's associated networks. the mail network will not be totally consumed with okympic coverage. I would suspect the news landscape will be pretty much the same, althugh, locally Tony will have very likely retired by then by then. ;D
