This Is a surprising move, he moves from one the most highly rated newscasts in the province to the one with the lowest ratings. This addition will give VI's news operaton a huge shot of credibility, but the main problem is the format dies not sell in B.C..

So this could be wild speculation, but I'm betting it's at least six figures. It's still amazing he'd do it though, considering he's been at CH for almost twenty years and they must have been paying him pretty well too. Now who's going to take over for him at CH? ?

I am shocked that Hudson Mcck would leave willingly leave the Chicken coop(CH), to go to the slaughter house (the New VI). He should watch his back. He could get laid off in the next round of cuts. Hudson Mack should realize a lot of good TV personalities were let go. For one I would like to see Trina, Klaudia and Moe come back. Hey Hudson can you do that with your new News Direstor powers, bring back the personalities I loved!

Yup. Maybe those cuts are why they can finally afford to bring Hudson on board.
This move is kinda hard to read. Yes, VI's credibility just went up a few notches, but it'll still take some time to shake off its also-ran image. But well, they've got nothing to lose. I just wonder if Hudson will bring any substantial changes to the station's style of presentation. There's only so much he can change while staying within the CHUM corporate mandate. (CHUM's "local flexibility" tagline only goes so far.)
I'm a little more worried (if that's the right word) for CH. Of course their ratings won't plummet overnight. But they don't exactly have much of a bench strength after Hudson left. IMO the only male anchor there who even looks remotely like a chief anchor is Phillip Campbell. Seems they were too complacent and didn't plan on grooming an heir-apparent.

Why does CH's next Anchor have to be a male?...If so what about Kim Emerson? He has a great news sense!

My guess would be a dual with Meribeth and someone else they will find from another CanWest Station.

Well Keith Baldrey lives in Victoria so he could co anchor it with Meribeth Burton(Keith could still report on BCTV just not from 5:00Pm-7:00PM)

IMO, CH has screwed itself big time. They've left themselves with no real anchors. Sophie's been gone for a while, Bruce McAllister left for Global Calgary, and now their last senior newscaster has jumped to the rival. Meribeth is all right, but I think her and Dana will have a huge issue shoring up all the people who will leave now because there's no really experienced and well-liked anchors there.

CH reporter/assignment editor Moira McLean is also jumping ship... Just days after it was announced Hudson Mack would be joining The New VI, it was announced Tuesday that starting September 20th, Moira will become CHUM BC's (that is, Citytv Vancouver's and The New VI's) legislative reporter.
Alright people... let's place our bets! Who's next?!?!? And when? Or will CH try to steal someone from CHUM?!
