I'm really getting tired of chopper 9! and I just can't take it any more. I think the whole world is aware that CTV Vancouver has a chopper, so give it a rest. On thursday evening, they had two "breaking news" stories, the first breaking news story was that Jessica Alba is filming a movie on the North Shore and they showed LIVE aerial shots...WHO CARES! that's not news, that's just poor journalism. The second "breaking news" event was a of a small kitchen fire in a home, you couldn't see smoke, there was only one fire truck, and the firefighters left after only a few minutes...that's sure important news. Even the fact that they always refer to it as CHOPPER 9, and they throw their big "CHOPPER 9" bug in the top corner of the screen, Just say something like, "and these were shots taken the chopper just moments ago", instead of "Chopper 9 is flying of the sean right now and you looking at some live pictures from Chopper 9" it's too much! they were even giving out fridge magnets with chopper 9 on them this year at the PNE...   |

I know exactly what you mean. I guess it was last night that Kate Corcoran was more or less doing not one but 2 Live reports from Chopper 9 on a truck that jack knifed on Hwy 1 out in Langley - it merely ended up being a traffic report. It's unbelievable that such an insignificant story, IMO, has a decent journalist on that story and that they had to go to it twice! Yes, Hwy 1 is backed up but there are more important stories than being stuck in traffic.

And the damn thing is in their opening too, I really hope it breaks down or something (on the ground not in the air!!!!!) and they can't use it for a while.

Haha that article is so true too. When the PNE prize home draw was happening I was watching BCTV and I could here the stupid chopper hovering above the draw. Now why do you even need to have a helicopter above a DRAW!? It's not like your going to see anything other people can't, infact you will see less.

Were you watching BCTV and you could hear Chopper Nine? Or was this on CTV? No worries if you got it mixed up, Vancouver's TV market is impossible...

I remember watching Global BC's News Hour and it was a Friday so they had that thing (can't remember the name of it) where they show funny stuff from around the world and they had a shot from Vancouver and Squire said "We got the shot thanks to Chopper 9" he was just making a joke but I thought it was funny that he was talking about CTV

Yes, I remember that too it was on satelite debris, and they were showing an old aerial shot of vancouver from the 1950's

Cool, I miss Satellite Debris...it used to be on Canada Tonight during that brief period that we got it in Ontario on Global (CHCH also had it, but I don't watch CHCH). That and Tony Parsons made for one of my favourite newscasts...it's not the same with Kevin Newman now.

Global runs it's promos very frequently as well, during NFL broadcasts it's not uncommon to have a commercial break with backto back or back to back to back 'Know Sooner' spots as well as a fair number of single spots. abit of over kill i would say. |

Yes, but CTV's promos are so "in you face", like woo hoo look at us we're better...I would say that Global's are lot more tastefully done.

With CTV braging I would love it if Global did something like this "Global News is # 1 in ALL TIME slots,More people tune into Global News than CTV,CBC,City TV,CH,The New VI,Global's got the # 1 spot for News"
For the Morning News they should do something like this "Global's Morning News is First on the air at 5:30AM a whole half hour before the others Know Sooner with Global News"
For the News News they should do "Vancouver's ONLY Noon News know sooner with Global News"
for Global National they should do "Most National News dose not happen at 10 or 11 so why watch it then,Global National Sooner, Better at 5:30PM"
For News Hour Final "Why waite untill 11:30 to get Local News Global BC News Know Snooner"
They should also do a promo saying "Who's Needs Chopper 9 when you have this (they then flash a bunch of Exclusive reports done by Global) and a News Team like this (then show clips of Global staff)"
