It was announced today that Global is getting a new look across the country, which includes a new logo (the arc didn't even last nine years) and heavy use of teal - although the new logo will still feature red. They showed the new open for CITV that showed a Global Edmonton logo, and they also showed a BCTV open...but all I could see is "Noon NewsHour", no mention of Global or BCTV. So obviously the NewsHour branding is remaining, but I wonder if BCTV will remain?
Also of note is that GlobalNational will be seen at 5:30 across the country (much like BCTV now), except on MITV where it will be at 6:30. This will mean that for the first time since 1984, Global in Ontario will have an hour-long regional/local newscast from 6-7 PM. Regional/local news in Ontario has aired starting at 5:30 since 1984.

I wouldn't be surprised if a branding change was in the plans for the Newshour. I always felt that they stopped being BCTV when the affiliation switch happened in Sept 2001. i wonder if we will see the same sort of branding at Global that we are seeing CTV. Just plain old Global news across the country. ;D

most likly, the BCTV news on global is getting old. There not BCTV any more and every one knows that so they might as well stop using it.

Wow. This sounds good. Its probably just around time for a Makeover. I personally am not a fan of their use of red. Its just too much red for me to see in a day but its good that Global is expanding their news programs across the country and putting the same amount of Local News as the BCTV schedule in some more major markets. 2006 is gonna be a year of changes as i read on the Internet that CBC is getting a major overhaul of their newscasts in Jan 9. New Look for the National and Canada Now which will also move local to 6:00. New Look for CBC Newsworld and those Hour Long Supper News Shows in St Johns Montreal and Edmonton

I'm really looking forward to the changes coming up at Global. I'm digging the teal for the graphics.

Is CBC Canada Now going to have 1 hour of local news @ 6PM With the same formar(long Form Journalism)? As it stands now in Newfoundland, local news is airing from 6-7 PM, then the national half of Canada Now at 7. Sounds like what some American network affiliates used to do years ago. Newfoundland's local news has returned to the old "Here & Now" name, and it looks slick enough to take back its lead over NTV.

The new logo looks so ugly. I prefer the crescent.

It's supposed to represent the "greater" sign...greater coverage, greater shows...you get the point.

Was this on the news today? Cos I can't find anything online, so I'm guessing that it was on Global during Early News, NewsHour and NewsHour Final.
