I didn't watch it, so I can't speak to it, but reading on other boards, it probably is true.
*Additional Info*
It's very plausible that she is going back to school - she does have a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and could be gearing towards veterinary medicine - as she was an assistant for 7 years at a veterinary clinic.
Anyways, we shall see what happens, if it's truth or rumour, although, it's probably true.

I heard Steve talk about it at about 6:55am. He said that "well Lynn is leaving the morning news to go to school in Edmonton," then Lynn started off reading some stuff off a book or newspaper (?) about witchcraft and wizardry, something like Harry Potter's Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Then all four started talking about quidditch, the sport played by Harry Potter and his fellow wizards. They didn't mention the date that Lynn's leaving on, etc., so it might just be a joke. Interestingly, there IS a wizard school in Canada, in fact, it's on the BC/Alberta border. Here's their website if anyone's interested: www.geocities.com/bolingbrokeacademy/

Well, it is looking more and more like it was just another one of Steve Darling's jokes.

Well, Steve's hardly as risque as say Squire Barnes - at noon, Randene asked him how his sex life was (related to the story) and on the NewsHour there was a comment on "nice pancakes" (from a Mike McCardell story) and saying the last time he said that he got slapped and of course, other jokes.
