I've been watching Global most of the night and I think they're doing a pretty good job. CTV looks good too, solid coverage and a nice layout. CBC looks like they're trying way too hard to get viewers with Don Cherry and Rick Mercer part of the election night team...But what the heck is going on at CityTV? Their feed is terrible...It's extremely blurry and sub-standard.

Well for one, its city tv. i think CBC is doing good at little bit of comedy mixed in and you cant go wrong with Don Cherry. Over all i think global is doing the best, i noticed in the intro for DC they had a bit of the new Global openings... not much of it but just atad.

I've been watching Global Edmonton, CH Red Deer, Global Calgary, CBC Newsworld (which was nothing but snow from 7:00 to 7:11PM), and CPAC. Screenshots to come soon, but CityTV's CityVote 2006 has nothing at all which is local, it's all from Toronto with the exception of the data sidebars which just list all the ridings in Canada.
I'll talk about this when it's all over. And why are people on Global calling "it" the 'News Hour' now !?

Hmmm I dont think City doing everything from Toronto is that bad, provided they do province by province analysis. That's what happens in Australia with Federal Elections - The ABC, Nine and Sky News all anchor coverage from the main tally room in Canberra. Sky switch feeds between Nine and ABC. The ABC and Nine analyse important seats across the country and I think they go further with analysing the Senate, which is meant to represent the interests of the 6 states but seldom does.

Well, compared to Global where they've split coverage 50/50 between national and local, and CTV dedicating some time to local coverage as well, it's kind of ironic that CityTV - promoting itself as the most local station in its market - has national election coverage completely coming out of Toronto. That's what CBC did and I'm surprised CityTV took the same route.

Here, I just put all the images into a folder and dropped in a listing script. ahtr.ath.cx/tv_media/election_2006/For those who didn't get to see the election coverage graphics. Edit: I've configured my screenshot output folder into ahtr.ath.cx/tv_media/raw_screenshots/so you can check there to see if i've hit the 'L' key lately. And, finally - Something Local for once!

I decided to watch CTV most of the night and I switched between Global as well. Personally speaking, I thought graphically, CTV was the best. I wish there was more local content in CTV's and I went to Global for some local races. However, reading the ticker for local races, Global had the winner, while CTV had the three candidates and obviously, the leader. I watched the others for a few minutes, didn't really like the coverage too much at all. Of course, for election insights, you can't beat CTV with stalwarts like Lloyd Robertson, Craig Oliver and Mike Duffy. Interesting election coverage overall and an interesting election!

With the CHUM stations, I was flipping around on Bell Expressvu and it seemed like the A-Channels were doing more local with some cut-ins to the national leader locations while the CityTVs did a national Toronto based program.

Does anyone have any pics from Vancouver coverage? Global's BC coverage was very interesting. There was a shot where the cameraman walked through the entire newsroom and up into the studio.

Already out? And where would we find this?
**EDIT**
Well, I did see something in the paper today but I don't remember if they were THAT specific. Nevertheless, that seems to be true for BC.
