Sad to hear...there are reporters at CKVU we've been watching for years...would be odd not seeing them on air anymore.

A-Channels Morning is gone, and no 6pm and 11pm newscast.. so reall y now Vancouver only has really 2 local newscast, cause who really watch canada now According to an article from CBC News, indeed. A-Channel Morning is gone, but the two hour A-Channel News program will continue, as well as Vancouver Island Report. Source: www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2006/07/12/chum-bell-arts.html****UPDATE**** From the Edmonton Journal: They are saying that CITY-TV in Vancouver will discontinue traditional newscasts and will be adding more resources to Breakfast Television. Source: www.edmontonsun.com/News/Edmonton/2006/07/12/1681378.htmlThere's also the spin from the folks at CHUM themselves, via this press release: www.newswire.ca/en/releases/archive/July2006/12/c9578.htmlIt will be interesting to see the reaction tonight from those affected -- I know CTV has already started running promos about the story and I'm sure Global will be following suit.

Looks like CIVI is going up for sale. Maybe Rogers might buy it.

Is #13 really such an unlucky number? Channel 13 has gone through many ownership and style changes since the gigantic media shakeup in September 2001.

So many wonderful people, gone...both on-air and behind the scenes. It's always disheartening to see how people are rewarded for being hard-working, passionate, and loaded with talent. Surely all those affected will move on to bigger and better things.
Another dark day for the local biz.

I don't like this and funny how they can make changes like this before the CRTC approves it.
It is not good to have less competition as Bell owns CTV and other small networks.
It is bad out here as the majjor and many small newspapers and the major tv station are owned by one outfit now this?? wtf?
Funny Bev Oda the Industry minister has been quiet.
