I really like the Global Montreal set, it almost seems "cozy". I have also grown to like the Global Ontario set for Global News Morning, it's the same set for the other newscasts, just with different camera angles, different lighting around the desk, and a plasma screen added in between the anchors. The worst set, Global Winnipeg or Saskatoon, you would think the Winnipeg set would be nice looking considering it is the world headquarters of CanWest Global, but noooooo

I hear ya on the Global Winnipeg thing.... but about a month or two ago, they launched a new set... it's no longer the picture of another *blurred* set... this one looks a little more like CKY's, with a shot of the Winnipeg skyline behind the desk.

I personally like Global Calgary's set, it definitely needed a huge upgrade. A-Channel Calgary's set makes it look more professional, which they needed. For CTV, all the sets with the blue/wood panelling and crescent-like studio are nice (CJOH-TV Ottawa, CKCK-TV Regina, CKY-TV Winnipeg, CFQC-TV Saskatoon).

I find Global Ontario's set quite dark... and space agey in a way with all that grey and blue...

I actually dislike the newer CTV studios immensely. The anchors sit way too close together, the colours are too bright, and the studios are almost identical to each other (CKCO is another that has this look). I liked the old CJOH studio a lot. The studio ATV still has is pretty good, as is CFTO. Back when CKNY (MCTV North Bay) had its own studio, I liked that one.
One of my favourite studios though is the one used on Global in Ontario from around 1985 to 1997. Very open and I liked the world map, particularly the first one from before 1994. They have somewhat returned to the older look in the past year, but it is nothing like it used to be.
Another good studio I've seen is the CFPL studio in London from 1984-86.

Global Maritimes has recently got a new set, complete with a City backdrop and a few LCD TV screens with the Global Logo on them, it looks way better than their previous one, which was dark wood paneling, which kind of reminded me of a Starbucks.

That sounds like the one at Global in Calgary.

Well it is a bit similar, smaller though and a brighter backdrop. you can watch it in REALPlayer video on their website.

Obviously, since I'm from Calgary, I rather like the Global News Calgary set. From, CBC, CFCN, and A-Channel, Global's looks more professional.
