...and their promos feature the "KNOW SOONER" tagline...even with these similarities, there are many differences, the station almost seems american to me, but then again, most of the TO stations do...did Derek Shiu move to Toronto? I think he said something like that at TVNEWSTALK.NET?

No kiddin - it's probably because BCTV is the homebase of Global - it has Global National, etc, etc... And Global Ontario doesn't even compare to BCTV... BCTV is much better...

Hmm, didn't know someone on here checked TVnewstalk.net . Yes, I indeed moved to Toronto. That's why I hadn't posted here in a while (and why the site hadn't been updated). It's also pretty obvious that I won't be able to keep updating the site, so I'll probably just hand it over to Tim (unless someone else can convince me why I should pick them ). So, seeing as I've seen Global Ontario in person, I can testify that they are indeed quite similar to BCTV, right down to the interactive chromakey and TrafficTracker (except they call it "Morning Drive"). They do run "kNOw Sooner" promos as well, which don't look as well-put-together as BCTV's.

Global Ontario is an interesting station, one in which i would like to know better. When I went to Toronto at the beggining of August, I hated CIII, but when i left, i loved it. I wish they would show more wide shots of the studio though, i can't quite figure out where the desk the use for Global Sports is in relation to the main desk...i can't tell if it's in the main studio. I also would like to know if they use Robotic Cameras like BCTV does, cause if they don't, then they just have a superb camera crew...Toronto is a great market, and I also managed to go on a few studio tours, The Canadian Broadcasting Centre, is truly amazing, i saw the CFTO/CTV News/NewsNet studios in Agincourt, they seemed quite small and old, I also went on a tour of the Global Studios in Montreal...tiny.

Another thing about Global Ontario, i love how they have "at this hour" headlines on Global News Morning, reminds me of CNN.

CIII is too Toronto-centric nowadays. Living outside of the GTA, it is disappointing that their news operation barely covers my region anymore, unlike a few years ago when it was much less Toronto-centric. I don't care what's going on in T-dot, I want to know what's really going on beyond the GTA and in my home town.
By the way, yes CIII has robotic cameras, and the Sports studio faces the main studio. About 10 years ago, they did a very rare sweep of the studio with a camera where you could see both the news desk and the sports desk at once.
