What would you name it? My ideas so far are: Global News 24, Global News Now, or Global News 2. And for a slogan? i'd say something like, "Canada's Newschannel or "a whole days news every half hour"- ala CNN Headline News

I say Global News Network, or GNN for short. Global News Now I believe would be stealing from A-Channel News Now, although not on the air (AFAIK) I've seen the name on the Nelson Media website. Additionally there's already the News Now program in Ontario on three NewNet stations. Global News 24 might work, although that reminds me too much of Ontario's CP24. By the way, does CKVU have its own newschannel, like CITY in Toronto?

haha, I was thinking more of a NewsNet type channel, three anchors, one for morning, noon and evening, pre-recorded and showing reruns of Global National and Moneywise during the overnight hours..and maybe a live news block like like at 7 eastern/4 pacific. The network would be a split operation between Toronto and Vancouver.

Actually, I was stealing the name from ABC News Now...but I think Global News Now would work well...it's easy to remember. and here's my slogan: k NOW...get it? it translates out to, "know now" (lower case k upper case N)

Well sence I have no life if Global ever had a 24 news network this is what I think they should do(all people are from a Global TV station) Monday-Friday 4:00PM PT/7:00PM ET:Global News with Deb Hope & Harvey Oberfeld I'm sorry - Deb Hope and Harvey Oberfeld!!! ???That's quite funny! Not only that, that format would never ever work new anchors EVERY half hour or hour. Imagine the money that Global would be paying out for so many anchors.

I just think it's preposterous to even consider it. CBC and CTV already have secondary all-info channels... there wouldn't be much market share.

If Global did go ahead with this, I think they should do what CP24 does during the night and early mornings on weekends, show newscasts from the 1980s. They could pick different newscasts from different Global stations from across Canada.

The reason I brought this up is because Global has just announced it is shifting more money (a hell of alot) to its news division. This is only for fun though, it's not like it's actually going to happen.

If they are shifting a lot of money to their news operation, then I think they should extend Global News (in Ontario) to start at 5, allowing for more time to cover what they should be covering. Right now certain aspects of the newscast are rushed, including weather and sports.
