What else does everyone watch? (news wise) I tend to watch alot of CNN and CNN Headline News in the early morning, and CBC Newsworld just before lunch.

I only watch Canadian news channels...mainly CBC Newsworld. I find CTV NewsNet too repetitive, and CP24 is aimed at Toronto so there is a lack of relevant news. I do not watch American news whatsoever, and that includes CNN. I actually cannot stand CNN at all, let alone FOX News Channel (which I have yet to see). I prefer to hear the news from a Canadian perspective, there's no Canadian news on the American channels, and I have no use for what is going on in most of the United States - if it is major enough, like the current election campaign, it will be seen on the Canadian networks.

Do you only watch CTV9 beasue you work there or becasue you think they are better than Global?? My comments may be slightly influenced by my employment, yes. But, overall, I think they do a better job than Global, with or without CHOPPER NINE.

I watch BCTV Morning News before I leave for the day. When I get home I watch CNN for a bit. From 5-7 I watch CTV News - I prefer their newscasts compared to Global. I usually watch CTV National News and CTV News @ 11:30. I personally find a significant bias in Global's reporting and in their newscasts.

Canada AM is so boring, so I only watch it when they have someone cool filling in, like Sandie Rinaldo a few weeks ago, and when Kate Wheeler does the news (I don't know what it is, I just like her lol)...BT is meh, and New Day would be great if I were an island resident. The Morning News is probably the best, but I would really love to see them use another part of their beautiful set...please! rotate the desk towards the video wall or something, or replace that backdrop they used to use with a city skyline backdrop.

I think they prefer to have their newsroom as their backdrop. They have had this for almost thirty years now. Using a city skyline backdrop is so USA style. Take a look at Seattle's television newscasts. They all use a city skyline. The Space Needle is very Identifiable with their city. What does Vancouver have that's simliar if we were to use a cityscape backdrop? Nothing comes to mind. The Mountains I guess. Sometimes they use the two coach chairs on the other side of the studio when they have guests, but very seldom. CNN stole the newsroom backdrop idea from BCTV

Actually, the morning news has been looking to establish a different "brand" than the other newscasts. Lots of stations alter their set for the morning newscasts (Global Ontario puts a plasma screen between the anchors). The same goes for BCTV. Produvers tried to establish a different look for the newscast, it just didin't work. However, the need to do something to make it a little different. BTW, BCTV hasn't always used the newsroom for a backdrop, in the early years, they used a backdrop with "news hour printed on it", and they've also briefly ditched the backdrop a few times in the 90's, although returning to it in 1996.

CNN stole the newsroom backdrop idea from BCTV It is true, according to Reese Schonfeld the found of CNN. He went to BCTV and saw the newsroom backdrop and decided to use it on CNN.
