Yesterday I was reading some of the 1990 book Scrum Wars, which has various stories by some of Canada's top TV journalists of the time, such as Doug Small, Barbara Frum, and Craig Oliver. Anyway, there was something in the book that talked about how in some countries (at that time), some networks would take an entire report from another network, and voice over the same words and add their own graphics - instead of actually going to cover the story. This isn't even for translation purposes, this is the same language.
Is this still practiced, and if so, where?

To a degree Sky News Australia does this. They rely far far too much on the reports from the Seven and Nine Network newsrooms. Most reports infact come from those 2 (domestic news). They rely too much on their owners.
I know the state broadcaster in China has stolen the ABC's news theme. They just stole it - didnt pay, ask permission or anything, stole the theme! Ridiculous.

I don't think we have any network in north america that has stole another networks story. But we do have a network that right wing that tells lies and is like a 24/7 Bush AD, FOX News Channel.
