For those who haven't seen it, here is the opening for Global New Morning Toronto. This is what I think The BCTV Morning News should look like. www.n5r.com/news_global.asp

Looks pretty good. BCTV needs a graphics revamp anyways. Perhaps that could be a new look.

I personally like Global's morning graphics, I wouldn't mind seeing that on BCTV myself...of course with a BC scene instead of the Toronto skyline, and keeping the name Morning News intact. I am not personally a fan of BCTV's current graphics.

I realy don't get it, the red ribbon graphics used by Global Toronto in that clip actually look good, whereas the ones on BCTV look like garbage. BCTV's graphics just look tacky. From the day I saw there current package i knew I hated them.

I believe that BCTV is really lagging behind on the graphics. They look dated, which they are but not only that, they look really inferior to other stations. As well, although semi-off topic, watching Global National's coverage of the Pope's funeral, they graphics looked really poor, in comparison to CTV, CBC and even CHUM (in my opinion). The only graphics that Global looked way better was Fox News, which looks like it was produced by highschoolers (except it would look done better by highschoolers). However, I digress and a graphics overhaul at BCTV needs to be done soon!

Also, forgot to mention with the Morning News, I see the same stories on the ticker, every minute it seems!

I like everything I see graphic wise that comes out of Global Ontario, they do a really good job.

Also, forgot to mention with the Morning News, I see the same stories on the ticker, every minute it seems! They do indeed have a very short loop, but Global in Ontario is bad too (although not as bad as BCTV). I am personally quite old-school when it comes to news graphics - give me 80s chryon and I'll be happy - but I'll tolerate most of the new graphics. BCTV is an exception, I cannot tolerate it. I'm also not a big fan of Channels 2&7 (Global Calgary)'s graphics, they appear to use Arial for some graphics, the second-worst font there is. At least they don't use Courier!

I agree, the graphics and ticker are pretty sweet, but the only thing I don't like is the transition from the opening graphics to the anchors - they should do what Global BC does with the sweep-in camera angle.

(Exception: News at 5:00, different theme music) I'll put something up once I get the TV card working again.

Has anyone noticed that the intro to Global News Morning in Ontario is strikingly similar to the WB11 Morning News on WPIX in New York? Even the logo bears some resemblance.

Maybe a little...the WB11 has a big ol' talent open with it though. Speaking of WB11, I can't beleive they fired Lynne White!
