Hey hey...
Is anyone following this bizarre case from Edmonton... a la Scott & Laci Peterson... Mark & Lori Hacking (I think that case has yet to go to trial)...
To catch up everyone...
Liana White was a 29-year-old Edmonton married mother of one - who was also four months pregnant. Her employer raised the alarm bells when Liana didn't show up for work Tuesday (July 12th) morning. Apparently, it was very out of character for her to be late, or not call into work.
Later that morning, around 7:30, police found her SUV abandoned at a park just a couple of kilometres from the north Edmonton home she shared with her husband and one child... The driver's door was open - and her purse and other personal belongings were scattered in the truck. There were no signs of a struggle.
Her husband Michael claimed he last saw his wife at 6:15 AM - that's when she supposedly left for work. That contradicted reports from other witnesses who saw her abandoned SUV at around 5:45 AM. One witness even claims she called police at that time, who only brushed her off. She called again after 7 - when police said they were on their way.
Michael White went on television last week to make a tearful plea - asking that his wife be brought back to him safely.
Edmonton police continued to treat Liana's disappearance as a missing person's case.
This past weekend, Michael and his friends and family launched their own search for Liana. That crew found a body late Sunday afternoon on the outskirts of northwest Edmonton... No details of that body are being released right now (Monday night) - not the sex, age - nothing.
But late this afternoon, police announced Michael White has now been charged with second-degree murder - and indignity to a human body.
Yikes, eh?
