Within the past couple of weeks, CKCO (Kitchener) reporters have begun signing off their reports as "CTV News", although the newscasts are still known as CKCO News. Have any other CTV stations still using local identity begun doing this recently? I thought I heard MCTV has been doing this for a couple months.
Now, I know that even long before CBC became generic, their local reporters signed off as "CBC News" - I have seen footage from around 1980 from CBMT that indicates this, eventhough their newscast was "The City at 6" and the station was known as CBC 6 Montreal. So, I wouldn't say that CKCO will be changing to "CTV News" right away for sure, but it could happen. Does anyone have any info about what is going on? This is a slow, painful torture of viewers!

[glow=red,2,300][/glow]MCTV began signing off as CTV NEWS even though brodcasts are still refered to MCTV NEWS but i think that they are going to make all local stations turn into CTV NEWS instead of for example CJOH NEWS (OTTAWA)

However, it appears the Alberta stations are defiant in their quest for continued locality.

However, it appears the Alberta stations are defiant in their quest for continued locality. Oh yes, they are. CFCN airs what is pretty much a top-of-the-hour ID/promo, like what you see on American stations...although only with the calls. Good enough. CKY does this too.

ATV, here in NS also signs off normally. This is another CTV station that will have a difficult time going generic!

Today, I saw something strange...
CFCN came to film something at my school (Terry Fox Run). When they pulled up, there were no 'CFCN' logos on the cruiser. Only 'CTV News' appeared...

I am told that in Ottawa, the CJOH News vehicles now say "CTV Ottawa". Additionally, their hot-air balloon now has the CTV logo on one side, although CJOH is still on the other side. CKCO has a balloon too so I hope to see it soon.

Heh, back in grade 5 they (CFRN) came to do a, urmm, report on something I forgot. Anyways. So we had a fire drill and I got to play with the camera for a bit What we saw on the 11:30 news - 'Image not rendered' with a large X on the screen. Yay Nah, it was just another one of my odd experiences.
