In a decision released to the public yesterday, the CRTC has determined that TV Niagara (TVN) is not worthy of a television programming undertaking license operating on channel 22 at St. Catharines. Much thanks go to CTV, CHUM, and of course, Global. Only in left-wing, planned-economy Canada can new entrants into the marketplace be stymied by empires who just don't want competition - and the CRTC allows it since they're Liberal supporters. Who else other than Global believed that their CHCH 11 in Hamilton was properly covering Niagara Region. Whether anyone believes CHCH should be covering Niagara or not, their primary responsibility is to Hamilton. Niagara Region deserves its own station, and TVN should not give up, even if it means operating like Star Ray TV in Toronto. www.crtc.gc.ca/archive/ENG/Decisions/2005/db2005-544.htm
