Rogers Broadcasting has agreed to buy the A-Channel Television stations in BC and Ontario from CTVglobemedia Inc. as part of a $137.5-million deal for 10 CTV-owned stations. It has also agreed to buy Brandon, Manitoba based CKX Television, Alberta Access channel, Canadian Learning Television (CLT) and SexTV.
The transaction is awaiting approval from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) and the Competition Bureau.
CTVglobemedia is also waiting on a CRTC decision in relation to the media conglomerate's acquisition of CHUM Limited, which included a commitment to divest its television station assets. The Competition Bureau approved the acquisition in early March.
So what do you think will happen to the A-Channel stations and the other stations Roger will buy?
