Are you people (that will not register) new the internet within the past couple weeks? This message board is more safe than your Y2K bunker that is no longer of any use. Although there's secure SSL encryption here. Only Tim and Derek (the two admins on this board) would have access to your e-mail address and or IP address. If that's what your concerned about please be rest assured that no one will have access to it but these two individuals. There is an option to either disclose/or hide your e-mail address. You can even choose to hide your birthdate, if you so wish. You have nothing to worry about. Although other registered may send you a private message from within the board. They're afraid of IP tracing, but you could do that anyway even if you were a guest. And then some people like to change their username every month. On this forum software you can change your username as often as you want.

What you said applies to most other boards as well, not just here at TV YVR. Yet these people continue to go on the Puget Sound Radio Message Board. It's the same thing over there as it is here and an on most other message board.

Idea: Let anonymous members start topics, but you have to be registered to reply. That's what I find seems to work most in other forums.

There's still the problem of them spamming if they ever felt like it.

I think you'll be throwing the baby out with the bath water. You'll be excluding people who are involved in the industry, myself included, who want to remain anonymous for obvious reasons. But it's your forum, you can do what you want. I agree. I like to remain anonymous.

Okay, you guys don't seem to be getting it, which is odd, because it's been explained by many people already.
Example: Your name is Steve Darling. You sign up. Your username doesn't have to be Steve Darling. It could be Rocky52 for all we care.

Checking the votes, eight votes to zero's sufficient for this idea to become "legislation" of sorts. Effective 9pm PST tomorrow, guests will no longer be able to access the boards and will have to register to post new topics and reply to existing ones.

This wouldn't be an issue unless a person or a couple of people didn't ruin things and tried to really stir the pot in a way that was counterproductive by posing under different names. The person/people you should be blaming is them, not Derek or Tim especially.

And, thusly, we are not allowing them access to the boards anymore. 90 minutes until closing time!

That's bullcrap. Screw you all! That's precisely the reason why we want to make it 'registered members only' you know.

They can't see anything, though. If you log out, you'll notice you have to enter a password before you can see anything. Otherwise, it's probably just Google SearchBots trying to scurry in and out with post information.
